The whole class did thinking hats for idea brainstorming

Both Tokyo Tower & Osaka Castle replica

The Wood Paintings of 4 seasons:

- Concept Board -

This was my very first so called Integrated Studio Project, a semestral project which aimed to involve students to make use the skill they have learnt throughout the whole semester. I chose "Japan" as the theme to express my interest in Japanese culture. What I used as the materials are wood and paper to showcase the japanese traditional culture of wood painting and paper craft. Basically it told a story of how I liked Japan for the first time. It was from Doraemon, crane origami, Kanji, Tokyo Tower, Osaka Castle and Mount Fuji. To sum up everything, Japanese culture inspires me a lot! © 2008 by William Surya Jaya

Garudaku Indonesia

I post this as a dedication to my beautiful homecountry, INDONESIA. Today Indonesia celebrates the 65th independence day and the spirit of the heroes who defend the country during the world war 2. As an Indonesian myself, I feel very proud of my home country. It is beautiful land with diverse cultures, languages, races, and religions. It is hard to sum up this biggest archipelago country in the world into one artwork. Therefore, I decided to take up cultures to start.

As you may see, The cultural symbols from all over Indonesia are packed into a shape of a big bird so-called GARUDA. Garuda is the symbol of Indonesia. There is a text written "BHINNEKA TUNGGAL IKA" meaning different backgrounds but one nevertheless. I did this artwork during my year 1 study in college for the Affair of the HeART International Student Night Art Competition. It won the 3rd prize. I was really grateful! Happy Birthday, Indonesia!

Metal Mask

Hi guys, this is my first project for experimental illustration module. It is basically a group project. But we also come out with individual supporting item. We design mask made of recyclable material. The theme is "Metal". We basically starts with steampunk style with copper bronze color theme.

I divide my mask into 2 parts. One is the eye and the other is the mouth area. The eye area shoots laser beam (as imagined). And the mouth area consists of inhalers. It was so much fun to make. Be sure to check out my friends' mask also. They are all great.
