'A Gift for Teacher' -3rd year anniv

14 people made it in a small gathering on 21st November 2010 at Thamrin Plaza, Medan.

25th November is National Teacher's Day and today marks the 3rd year anniversary of memorable Harve5t Class Concert 'A Gift for Teacher' dedicated to our beloved teachers. (Harve5t is the name of my senior high school class) I want to share with you guys on how I could post this thing on my blog.

As I have said before, this blog is a platform for me to improve. My friends have been supporting me the moment I prepared to get through the entrance test of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. I just love them. Last sunday, we had a small gathering. Look at us now. It's been 3 years after concert & 2 and a half year after graduation.

Caring Singa

Design-A-Singa Competition Entry: Caring Singa
Maskot of Singa is under the copyright of Project Singa

I participate in Design-A-Singa Competition held by Project Singa. This is actually one-night design and I quite like it although it didn't win any awards. Caring Singa is designed to dedicate his life and spread kindness among the society. His personality is cheerful, friendly, warm and welcoming. With smiley face, every burden is casted away with care and love. :)

Doodle of the whole classmates - Journal

This picture was taken by Margaret. Credit to her, my classmate. The illustration on the board is the combination of doodles from my classmates. Let me share with you guys! We were playing game that each person had to add up something on the board. My teacher drew the basic form and we just added up what we liked. Anyway, we came up with this human-like strange creature in between male and female form, who was screaming out for pad. :) It was a lot of fun.

Garudaku Indonesia

I post this as a dedication to my beautiful homecountry, INDONESIA. Today Indonesia celebrates the 65th independence day and the spirit of the heroes who defend the country during the world war 2. As an Indonesian myself, I feel very proud of my home country. It is beautiful land with diverse cultures, languages, races, and religions. It is hard to sum up this biggest archipelago country in the world into one artwork. Therefore, I decided to take up cultures to start.

As you may see, The cultural symbols from all over Indonesia are packed into a shape of a big bird so-called GARUDA. Garuda is the symbol of Indonesia. There is a text written "BHINNEKA TUNGGAL IKA" meaning different backgrounds but one nevertheless. I did this artwork during my year 1 study in college for the Affair of the HeART International Student Night Art Competition. It won the 3rd prize. I was really grateful! Happy Birthday, Indonesia!

Abstract Painting - Experimental

This is an abstract painting I did in minutes for my experimental illustration exercise. I kinda like abstract painting. It represents the canvas for us to pour down pure expression and emotions that can not be described in a form of painting. To me, the process of doing is the most important thing. The feeling of how you express it, is the true art. I remember I did an abstract drawing to my friend in order to express my gratitude. I just thought about the good memory we had together while I was drawing without looking at the paper. It was my way to express the emotion. Hereby, I share with you the quote from the famous abstract painter.
"There is no must in art because art is free." - Wassily Kandinsky
